Submission guidelines for papers
General
Papers do not exceed 8,000 words, including the abstract, tables, and references. We recommend writing the paper in a Times New Roman 12-point font with 1.5 line spacing. All pages must be numbered. Please include the total word count of the manuscript (including references) on the title page.
The preferred format for your manuscript is Word. You do not need to follow a template, but please ensure your heading levels are clear, and the sections clearly defined.
We ask you to present the number assigned to your submission and the name of the conference on the first page Paper #[…] PUBSIC2025 ([AUTHOR’S LAST NAME]). E.g. Paper #54 PUBSIC2025 (Janssen & Johnson)
Structure
Submitted papers contain the following sections:
- Title page: with title, authors, word count, etc.
- Abstract
- Points for Practitioners (if relevant)
- 3-5 Keywords
- Introduction
- Main Body
- Conclusion
- References
Abstract
The abstract outlines the theoretical approach, method and data, results, and the implications of the findings for theory and practice.
Keywords
Authors submit a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords.
Introduction
The introduction states the research objective, summarize the broader context and significant trends in the relevant scholarship, and explain why the research is important either theoretically or practically. From this broad overview, narrow down to your specific research question, positioning it within the existing academic debate or practical developments. The introduction outlines the central argument(s) of the paper and provides a brief description of the structure of the research, including the rationale behind the selected approach, methodology, and any limitations, if applicable.
Main Body
The main body of the paper presents your research and analysis. For empirical papers, this typically means a theoretical perspective (literature review, conceptualization, hypotheses), research methodology (methods, tools, and techniques used to collect and analyze data) and qualitative or quantitative findings. More conceptual papers will have a structure that helps to present the line of argument in a clear and convincing manner.
Conclusion
The conclusion succinctly summarizes the main findings of the paper, linking them back to the original research objectives and the broader academic or practical context. Additionally, this section addresses the implications of the findings for theory, practice, and potential future research. If a discussion section is included, it may provide a critical analysis of the findings, explore alternative interpretations, and identify any limitations or challenges encountered during the research process. It also suggests areas for further investigation, highlighting the relevance of the study to ongoing debates or developments in the field.
References
References are cited in the text as (Author, date) and listed alphabetically in the reference section according to APA (https://apastyle.apa.org/).
Titles, Subtitles, and Paragraphs
The paper includes clear titles and subtitles to structure the content and aid navigation.
- Titles: Times New Roman, size 12, bolded, with the first letter of each word capitalized. Skip one space before starting the text.
- Subtitles: Italicized, and with the first letter of each word capitalized. They should be in Times New Roman, size 12. Begin the text on the next line.
- Paragraphs do not have to be indented.
